Our pulse welding systems can be used to repair damaged
and worn molds and tools using a system based on
resistance welding.
Areas of application:
Molds and tools for plastic and rubber, pressure-casting molds, pressure molds and punching tools. The area of application of this
equipment extends from repairs on the smallest mold areas to welding-on large areas of filler metal, elimination of secondary flaws
and edge craters after TIG welding, application to parting lines and mold seams, or at points that are otherwise inaccessible for
welding. Welding has none of the negative side-effects of conventional welding methods (penetration, deformation or spatter),
which means a reduction of up to 85% in repair costs. Because of the compact dimensions of the equipment, it can also be used
direct on the machine, without dismantling the mold. Filler metals that can be used include metal powders, metal paste, metal strips
and wire of the requisite quality. By repeated application of the filler metal, thicknesses in the millimetre range can be achieved. The
precise positioning of the filler metal means that it can also be applied to edges, points and radii. After repair completion, finishing
can include turning, milling, grinding, drilling, polishing, eroding, hardening and coating.
Welding process:
The applied metal is placed at the point of repair using light pressure from a rotating or flat electrode. Operation of a footswitch
triggers current pulses that combine the two materials with each other. The joint is made by melting the applied material into the
basic material. Filler metals are available in tool-steel quality. The equipment is easy to handle, and no special training is required.
